Food Scientist and Technologist
Godwin J. Matiko is a passionate and proactive junior professional food scientist and technologist, a bona fide young leader, and a lifelong learner and doer. He holds a B.Sc. in Food Science and Technology from Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) and graduated in November 2021. He is determined and focused on Food Quality and Safety assurance, Project management, Leadership, Research, and Communication systems. He was awarded first runner-up of the 8th ARSO continental essay competition at the national level in 2021, organized by the Tanzania Bureau of Standard (TBS) and the African Organization for Standardization (ARSO).
Recently, Godwin works as a Food scientist at a Meat processing company in Germany. Godwin served a pivotal role for one year and a half as Project administrator at Sokoine University Graduate Entrepreneurs Cooperative (SUGECO) Tanzania to an international project that involved 10 African countries under USADF from October 2021 to March 2023. He has served as a research assistant to the AMEIN research group based at SUA and SUGECO from October 2021 to March 2024. During his spare time, Godwin volunteers as a program coordinator and mentor in leadership and self-mastery to students and young leaders in schools and universities through an NGO known as Get Started Get Moving Organization (GESGEMO).
Godwin completed two professional training. First with the Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS) on Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) and second with TechnoServe on Food safety, specifically GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices). He worked as a Quality Control specialist in the fish and meat industries during his field practical training in 2020 and 2021 respectively.
