The Tanzania Association of Food Scientists and Technologists is the non-profit association that was established and registered since 1993 under the Societies ordinance, 1954 at the ministry of home affairs as a professional association.
The association has a pool of more than 500 Tanzanian experts in food science and technology cadre with sector specific expertise in such areas as food processing, food fortification, food safety, quality management, food business establishment, product development, process engineering, research and development to mention few.
TAFST aims to promote and further knowledge development, and application of food science and technology through education, research, and communication, in order to improve food supply, food safety, quality, and its use. This is made possible through encouragement of scientific and technical information exchange among food scientists, food engineers and other food related professionals.
